Elephant Orphanage
The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT) Established in 1977, the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage is located near Nairobi National Park. This orphanage, for elephant calves and rhinos from all over Kenya was founded and still managed by Daphne Sheldrick, the widow of one of Kenya’s best known Game Wardens David Sheldrick, who was at the centre of the 1970’s ivory poaching wars in Tsavo National Park. David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Opening Hours: The Trust is open to the public for one hour from 11 am to 12 pm every day. During this time the orphans arrive for their midday mud bath and feeding. Therefore David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Opening Hours are 11 am to 12 pm. Plan your Nairobi excursion to fit with this timing so that you can be at the entrance by 11 am.
